MisterE, very interesting set of statistics. I did take a look. Do you consider Cuba, Libya, China all as more peaceful than the US? Here’s a question. Where would you rather live? Where do people have more freedom of choice? Let’s see those stats. I don’t think the US would be 97th. Of course China is peaceful, when the people are unhappy, they bring out the tanks! You want proof? Tiannamen Square. I would be peaceful in that country too.
How about a contentment chart. Let’s ask the people in all these countries if they are content. And who is asking the questions? Do you think the people of Cuba are answering surveys honestly? If so, why do the Cubans defect every single time they have the opportunity?
You need to mix logic and statistics in order to make sense of any chart. I don’t see that with this ” peace ” ranking system.Can the US improve? Without a doubt. I have high hopes for our next president, whoever it is.
