I feel like I need to cut this one off at the path. I know that people like Adam think homosexuality is some kind of mental disorder that isn’t right and needs to be fixed. I can only imagine that in his uneducated mind he’s making the connection to Foley being gay and child molestation.
But I may be jumping to conclusions, Adam isn’t stupid, he’s just misguided, but that may not be the case for social conservatives as a whole. The fact of the matter that men, women, Catholic, atheist, straight, gay… all have been guilty of child molestation in the past.
Some of the nation’s largest gay rights groups this week denounced former Republican congressman Mark Foley of Florida following reports that he sent sexually explicit instant messages and e-mails to 16 and 17-year-old males who worked as pages at the U.S. Capitol.
“Gay or straight, Democrat or Republican, it is completely inexcusable for an adult to have this kind of communication with a minor,” said Joe Solmonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay political group.
Everyone is responsible for their actions. You cannot blame being gay for this, like I know you want to. Maybe you can blame certain upbringings, maybe you can blame certain neural connections, maybe you can blame Christianity for making the clergy so sexually repressed… but you can’t blame someone’s sexual orientation, something someone is born with and has no choice about it.

A man sexually abusing a boy does not make him a homosexual pedophile, just a pedophile. I am so sick of people associating homsexuality and pedophilia. Why does a man sexually abusing girls not paint heterosexuals with the same brush. The sex of the two individuals is irrelevant. A man who likes sex with boys doesn’t necesarrily like sex with men – in fact it would be quite unusual for that to be the case.
I don’t know why I’m quoting these random bloggers, but I feel like its good to let you (the reader) know that there are other people who can sense the impeding attack on homosexuals, if there hasn’t been enough already.
When will conservatives get off their high horse? Who knows? Maybe when someone can successfully show them how ridiculous they are.
