All is not lost

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

So the week has come and gone and no official announcement has come from Patrick Fitzgerald.  I have to admit that yesterday I checked Fitzgerald’s website more than once to see whether his office posted any news on Rove.  Nothing.

The question of the hour is where did the information come from?  I do not see a good reason for Rove to leak the information himself.  Why would he bother?  I can see why Rove would see to it that Leopold was destroyed, but I can’t see the benefit he gets from floating the bad information himself.  If Rove did not leak the information, who did?  A hoax?  Is it true and Fitzgerald has been sitting on it?

While I am thrilled to see Rove answer for his actions, I am more interested in the effect his indictment might have on the party as a whole and more importantly, the Republicans in the midterm elections.  Not only does Rove add an additional layer of taint, with a pending criminal matter Rove might be too preoccupied to manipulate the midterm elections.  I can see the GOP distancing themselves from Rove but still consulting him for strategy.

I think it’s key to entangle him in a criminal matter before he makes his mark later this year.

More news on Rove indictment

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

Sources inside the law firm representing Rove claim Fitzgerald warned Rove and his lawyers of the indictment.  Is that likely?  I’m not so sure.  Apparently Robert Luskin may also be a target in the investigation.  Some say we can expect an announcement on Friday, May 19.

From WMR:

According to sources within the Patton and Boggs law firm, Karl Rove was present at the law firm’s building on M Street. WMR was told by a credible source that a Patton and Boggs attorney confirmed that Fitzgerald paid a visit to the law firm to inform Rove attorney Robert Luskin and Rove that an indictment would be returned by the Grand Jury against Rove. Contrary to other reports, some of which may have emanated from the Rove camp in order to create diversions and smokescreens, the meetings at Patton and Boggs did not last 15 hours nor was a 24-hour notice of intent to indict delivered to Rove.

Faulty Leak

Wednesday, May 17th, 2006

Centaur and others think that the Truthout story and Jason Leopold both have credibility problems.  Maybe so.  Fitzgerald is not talking.  Most of the conflicting sources are coming from Rove’s side.  Leopold’s taking a beating in the press.  Personal attacks, the whole nine yards.  My take is it’s over the top.  Why is the Wall Street Journal focusing on Leopold, right?  A ‘quirky left wing’ blog? Someone is driving this smear train, that’s why.  I think Rove has to know his indicment is on its way.  I believe Centaur might be right that Rove is the mastermind behind this ‘faulty’ leak.

My bottom line is this:

If it’s not coming this week, it’s coming soon.  In my mind, the news story should be less about  the "liberal" blog media and more about the suspicions surrounding Karl Rove and his role in this investigation.  This is not the first time speculations flew that Rove’s indicment was impending.  To me, that is the real story.  In the meantime, I’ll patiently wait for that indicment.  It’s coming.

Karl’s Departure.

Monday, May 15th, 2006

There are some loose lips at the White House - to be precise, six White House aides and two RNC staffers sourced the "indictment is imminent" story.  Otherwise, they’ve got a tight seal on it.

Where is the Story?

Monday, May 15th, 2006

Well many of the wIsers saw this coming.  Why is truthout alone in covering Rove’s indictment?  Fitzgerald’s expected to announce the indictment this week.  Anyone think this is why Bush is sending ‘troops’ to the border?  Little diversionary tactic?  What does this mean for Bush?

Abramoff visits to the White House

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Secret Service logs show Abramoff visited the White House two times during Bush’s presidency.  Others say Abramoff may have visited the White House more than twice and that the logs are not conclusive.  Apparently, Abramoff met with Rove seeking Interior Department positions for two allies, one of which was Mark Zachares.

According to Rove, he sent Abramoff packing.  That would be a first.  Rove on the up and up.

Let’s see how this pans out.

Just as I suspected, the cards are unfolding at the CIA.  Today Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, the CIA’s executive director, announced his resignation.

Goss Resigns

Friday, May 5th, 2006

the writing was on the wall back in December.  No proof yet, but I’ll bet Goss is out bc of the Wilkes-Foggo connection.

Update for Oatney:

Wilkes and Foggo are old buddies.  Wilkes was linked to Cunningham’s bribes months ago.  it was just a matter of time before this trouble with Cunningham leaked into the CIA - via Foggo.  Now, it’s all coming to a head.

Will this peace accord achieve peace in Sudan?  Will the remaining factions sign on and even if they do, will the parties maintain their agreements?
